About British Airways
British Airways (BA) is the main airline of the United Kingdom, based near Heathrow Airport in London. It is the UK’s second-largest airline in terms of fleet and passengers, after easyJet. In 2011, BA merged with Iberia to form the International Airlines Group (IAG), one of the world’s largest airline groups. IAG is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is included in the FTSE 100 index.
British Airways made history by earning more than $1 billion on a single route from New York JFK to London Heathrow in one year. Founded in 1974 by the merger of four airlines, BA was privatized in 1987 and has since grown through acquisitions such as British Caledonian and British Midland International.
